First editions of two rare works by the Amsterdam physician Antonius Eygel (1621-1674) on uroscopy or “piskijken”, the medical practice of the observation of the human urine to diagnose various illnesses like fevers, dysenteria, cancer, gynecological illnesses, etc.., and which the author describes as very profitable and necessary. The second work proposes medications for the illnesses diagnosed. A second edition of the first work appeared in 1677.
