Second edition, three years after the first edition of 1759. In this work Henri Louis Choquel (1702 – 1767) presents the pendulum-metronome, a mechanical device by which a student learns time-beating patterns by tracing his hand along a rope. Choquel’s instrument was the earliest mechanical device to correlate time-beatings physically with musical activity. Nice copy of this early do-it-yourself manual for aspiring musicians in the Baroque era.
