1vol, 8vo, cartonnage de l’époque, 421 p.; bon exemplaire, manque le dos
Rare german translation of the “Catalogue raisonné des tableaux du Roy” by the engraver and art historian François-Bernard Lépicié (1698-1755), complete in two parts: the Florentine and Roman schools for part one and the Venetian and Lombard schools for part two. It was planned to catalog the other schools present in the royal collections but the death of the author compromised this project. With a preface by Klos on the usefulness of descriptions of paintings and the ambitions of Art History as a science.
