First and only edition of this informative autobiography by the historical tenor Laurent Swolfs (1868?-1954). Signed dedications by the author and the editor. Swolfs was a dramatic tenor, reputed for his instinctive musicality and pathos, singing in five languages and leaving an impressive recording legacy. After an illustrious career, he turned to teaching at the conservatories of Bruxelles, Ghent, Mechelen and at the music school Saint-Joost-ten-Node in Schaarbeek. He was also artistic director at the Flemish Opera in Antwerp.
