WOLFE, Tom.
The electric kool-aid acid test
Weidenfeld & Nicolson, London, 1969
8vo, original cloth boards with unclipped dust jacket, 416 p.; near fine copy
First UK edition of this New Journalism classic on the hippie movement, in a rare excellent condition. Wolfe wanted to create an uninhibited account of the events when following Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters on their bus trip across America in 1964, however his “immersion” in the scene didn’t keep him from rendering a clear and sober portrait of early hippie culture.
