First edition of this fashion catalogue in comic strip format by Belgian designer Walter van Beirendonck. King Kong Kooks was produced as a promotion for Walter Van Beirendonck’s Spring/Summer 1989 collection and was only given to friends and family, never officially sold. The drawings are by Jan Bosschaert, the text by Marc Legendre and the story and costumes by van Beirendonck himself. The story takes place in Antwerp and is based on his dog Sado, who is captured by special agents attempting to put an end to his outlandish fashion designs. The other five designers of the so-called Antwerp Six have a cameo in the story. Signed and inscribed by van Beirendonck (and the dog Sado) to topmodel and Antwerp Six muse Ghislaine Nuytten who appeared in the designer’s presentation clip for his 1983 collection Sado.
